James Lee Garner, 64, of Highland, died shortly after arrival Friday evening, November 28, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Jim was born at Hiawatha, KS, May 21, 1961, the only child born to Robert Lee and Alice Bauman Garner and lived nearly all of his life at Highland. He attended Highland schools where he graduated from high school in 1979 prior to graduating from Kansas State University-Manhattan with a bachelor's degree in agriculture business. While living at home, he assisted his Dad in his bee hives in the Highland area.

He was passionate about farming and became evident as he worked for numerous hog operations in the area most of his working life. In later years, he worked for Snorkel Fire Equipment Manufacturing in Elwood for several years.

He was a member of Smithton Lodge #1, AF&AM of Highland. He enjoyed bowling through the years and had a couple '299 games'.

Survivors include his wife Robbin Garner of the home; two sons: Jacob Garner, Gregory Garner; and daughter Leona (Chris) Hamilton.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland. Pastor Jerry Petering will officiate. Masonic committal services a courtesy of Smithton Lodge #1, AF&AM of Highland. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the James Garner Memorial Fund sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 33, Highland 66035.
