Robert Forbes Johns, 70, loving husband of Sankey Sponcil Johns, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his home. Robert was born on January 9, 1954, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Creed and Susan Rhineheimer Johns. He is survived by his wife, Sankey; daughter, Brooke Johns; granddaughters, Morgann (Gideon) Brewer and Shelby Wilms; and grandsons, Robert Walker Johns and Samuel Wilms. He was the best “Pappy” to his two great-granddaughters, Renley and Reagan. He is also survived by his two sisters, Georgia Bolus and Virginia Simpson. Robert was welcomed at the gates of Heaven by his son and best friend, Robert Jamison Johns, and his parents, Creed and Susan. Robert has been a lifelong farmer and retired from Linkbelt after 43 years. He was a member of Bethel Christian Church. Robert was known far and wide as a loving husband and father, faithful friend, hard worker, avid farmer, and devoted Pappy with the kindest and most gentle heart. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, January 14, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Bales and Bro. Mickey Stinnett officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where bearers will be Walker Johns, Gideon Brewer, Dooder Hager, Todd Sponcil, Samuel Wilms, and Daron Willis. Serving as honorary bearers will be George Rosenbalm, Jeremy Simpson, Keene Simpson, and Dale Cuzick. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral home.
