Robert W. Johnston

Robert W. Johnston, 74, of Wattsburg, passed away on Tuesday January 4, 2022, at St. Vincent Health Center. He was born in Erie on June 12, 1947, a son of the late Francis and Gladys Stevens Johnston.
Bob graduated from Wattsburg High School and served in the United States Navy Seabees. He worked for Beckwith Machinery/Cleveland Brothers for 47 years where he started as a Field Mechanic and worked his way up to a Project Manager before retiring in 2011. He loved anything related to aviation, had his own pilot's license, and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). He enjoyed listening to music, working on projects around the house that were neither too big or too small, and was a good friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and planning the next vacation.
Survivors include the love of his life whom he married on April 16, 1988, Karleen Carniewski Johnston; his two daughters whom he was very proud of, Chelsea Lore and her husband, Matthew, of New Jersey and Rebecca Johnston of Erie; his grandson whom he was also especially proud of, Lucas Robert Lore; and his sister, Barbara Hanes, of North East.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements were made by the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Rd., Erie, 16504.
