Robert Jones Obituary
1938-2026
Robert Gordon Jones age 87 of Draper, Utah passed away Saturday evening January 17, 2026, in West Jordan, Utah while in Hospice care. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 29, 1938 - the second child of Rodney Leroy Jones and Margaret Josephine (Miller) Jones.
He attended the University of Minnesota where he earned his BS in Business Administration, learned auditing and forecasting, and became a CPA by trade. He met his wonderful wife Patricia Anne Baldwin and they were married on March 11, 1961. Together they raised two children - Jeffrey Douglas Jones and Kimberly Kay Hyte. He worked for some prestigious companies based in the Minneapolis area such as Touche Ross and Co., Control Data, American Hoist and Derrick, and then moved to Salt Lake City and worked for EDO West ( Fiber Science division) . He later finished his career and retired as a controller for Hercules Bacchus division in 2001.
Proceeded in death by his parents and wife. He leaves behind his children Jeffrey (Vickie) and Kimberly; grandsons Trevor, Jeremy (Danielle), and Zachary; and great grandchildren Madeline, Gweneth, Ellis and Amelia. Also survived by his brother Donald Weyburne Jones (Donna).
Funeral services will be held on Friday January 23, 2026, at 1:00 at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East 10600 South Sandy, Utah. Services will be conducted by Pastor Bill Young followed by a luncheon at 2:30. Prior to his service a viewing will also be held there from 11:30-1:00. -

I had the great honor and pleasure to meet Bob17 years ago when I moved to Utah and started as a volunteer tax preparer. He was a very kind and generous man who mentored me as a novice tax preparer. Early on we realized we both had a great fondness for the mountains and skiing at Alta. A day of taxes never went by without him asking me if I´d been skiing during the week and how the conditions were. Many years ago my young godson asked me what heaven was like. It told him every day is a powder day in heaven. RIP Bob whenever you´re not making turns and taking face shots. You deserve nothing but bluebird days and bottomless powder.
