Bobby was born in Kingston, NY where he spent his early years. When his father's position was transferred with IBM, they moved to Madison, AL where he went to high school at Sparkman, playing for their football team. He stayed behind when his family moved back to New York and joined the Navy during the Vietnam War. He spent 4 years with the Navy. A few months after being back, he joined the Huntsville Police Department, where he spent 34 years serving our great city. Once retired, he spent most of his time in the great outdoors. He was an avid fisher and hunter, along with being an excellent marksman. Aside from his love of the outdoors, he loved to spend time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Dolores Joyce, and his brother Jeffrey Joyce.
He leaves behind 3 children: Teresa Joyce, of Huntsville, Michael Joyce, of Huntsville, and Melissa Boylen, of Madison. He also leaves behind 3 siblings, Jack Joyce (Kay Joyce), Dorothy Swarts (Phillip Swarts) and Kerry Joyce (Joy Joyce).
He will be laid to rest in Rosendale, NY with his parents on Friday December 5th at 11 AM.
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 29th, from 12:00 - 2:00 P.M. at Berryhill Funeral Home, Huntsville, Alabama, followed by his funeral service.
All other arrangements have been made in New York. He will be laid to rest at St. Peter's Cemetery, Rosendale, NY where a graveside service and Military Honors by Joyce - Schirick Post 1386 Veterans of Foreign Wars will be held on Friday December 5th at 11:00 AM.
