Robert W. Keils, 63, of Painesville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024, peacefully in his sleep.
Born Aug. 2, 1961, in Parma Hts., Robert lived in Painesville for the past 42 years.
"Bob the Barber" of Painesville, on the corner of Richmond and Erie for 40+ years, served the Lake County community faithfully. Bob loved his customers and treated everyone like family. "The Poor Man's Therapist", Bob was always a listening ear to anyone who found themselves in his chair. From first haircuts to last, Bob was a treasure in the county and to all who knew him.
Beyond the walls of One Cut Above Barbershop, Bob was a family man. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his wife, Trish, either at their riverside getaway or at their lake house in Georgia. Bob loved to host family gatherings at the river and always looked forward to his annual fish fry and clam bake.
One of Bob's favorite love languages was creating memorable experiences through his love of the culinary arts. Bob treasured being around his friends and family, breaking bread and sharing stories and laughter. He adored his wife, his mother, his four children and deeply missed his siblings.
The loss of Bob will be grieved by many, far and wide, but he will live forever in our hearts.
Bob was the beloved husband of Patricia G. (nee Corbut) Keils; loving father of Francesco (Kim) Occhipinti, Gabriella (nee Occhipinti) Santoro, Nicole (Joshua) Ciszczon, and Robert J. (Christine, fianceé) Keils; son of Elaine (nee Hellriegel) Keils; and grandfather of Isabella (nee Occhipinti) Shaffer, Kylie and Madison Ciszczon, Sophia Santoro and Kenneth J. Keils.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Keils; and siblings, Kenneth Keils, Scott Keils and DeEtta Kaderbek.
Family to receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 6330 Center St. (Rt. 615, N. of Rt. 2), Mentor, with a Celebration of Life service at 5:30 p.m.

For nearly 20 years I was fortunate to have been not only able to consider myself a customer but one on many friends to Bob. He not only welcomed but cherished his many many customers of all ages. He also displayed his unwavering support for all that walked into his shop and not to mention his staunch support of the military and law enforcement community members. Bob's Barber Shop was a Mans Man one stop shop that invited all to engage in an open dialog of current events all while waiting for the "worth the wait" hair cut. Bob will be sadly missed by many and until we meet again, give'em hell.

Bob always had great stories! I was always happy to see him when he would walk into the bank where I worked. Bob always had a smile on his face and the best sense of humor! He was definitely a part of the fabric of Painesville. Such a great loss for his family and all of the community. My condolences to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Always a genuine lad.I will miss our conversations he was not just a barber he was a friend.
Not gonna be the same passing by your shop at least twice a day for work.

I ran the Army recruiting station that was above the National City bank just across Richmond. The Army buddy that was there previously told me about Bob and after meeting him he was the only barber to cut my hair. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. This is a huge loss for the community, Bob was one of a kind...

A massive loss. Everyone loves Bob the Barber. Not to sound religious here but the only thing i can make sense of this is that God needed a haircut, so he decided to take the best man for the job. Damn! I'll miss you brother. God also must have needed someone to genuinely make him laugh and talk to. Bob could do this easily. I am still in shock.
