Robert Kennedy Obituary Robert "Bob" Kennedy, 83, of Valparaiso, passed away on October 12, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on December 11, 1940, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to John and Frances (Halton) Kennedy. On August 8, 1964 he married Barbara "Bobbie" Mehosky, who survives him. He graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 1965. Bob served as a Captain in the United States Army (JAG) for over 5 years before working in the public sector as a lawyer and judge in Porter County. He was active in the Cursillo movement of the Diocese of Gary, was a member of St. Paul Mens Club, American Legion, Elks, Indiana Bar Association and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife and children Moira Cattapan from Wisconsin and Megan Kennedy of Valparaiso. He is also survived by brothers John (Pat) Kennedy, George (Mary) Kennedy, sister Margaret Kennedy, sister-in-law Terry Kennedy, grandchildren Lauren Cattapan, Abby Cattapan, Luke Cattapan, Anastasia Sweet, and Isabelle Sweet. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Edward. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Bartholomew Funeral Home in Valparaiso, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Mass will be held on Thursday, October 24, at Nativity of our Savior Catholic Church in Portage at 10:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 Am until the time of service, Fr. Kevin McCarthy, Rev. Thomas Mischler and Rev. Jerry Schweitzer officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Indiana food bank, St. Paul School, Hilltop House in Valparaiso, or Cursillo (Diocese of Gary).
