DELPHOS -- Robert Keith Kiggins 'Coach', age 90, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2025 at VanCrest of Delphos surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 4, 1935 in Delphos to Robert T. and Detoh (Swick) Kiggins who both preceded him in death. On August 17, 1957 he married Sally Yvonne(Lamb) Kiggins who survives in Delphos. They were one day shy of their 68th wedding anniversary.
Keith is survived by his daughters, Julie Kiggins of Delphos, Lisa (David) Harlan of Delphos, Karen Kayser of Elida and Beth (Eric) Geise of Delphos; grandchildren, Anne (Luke) Wood, Kate (Hunter) Savage, Cynthia (Evan) Waggamon, Megan Harlan(Curtis White), Kayla Nolan, Brittany (Corey) Peters, Lauren Nolan, Alex (Bo) Geise and Madison (Matthew) Schmiesing; a bonus grandson, Dalton Kayser; and great-grandchildren, Noah and Hudson Wood, Lily and Ella Savage, Anastasia Graham, Eleanor Leiendecker, Jay Peterson, Griffin Geise, and Emersyn Schmiesing.
He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law David Kayser, great grandson Anthony Stechschulte, sister and brother-in-law, Beth (Robert) Lauber; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alice (Rolland) Ritzler, Marvin (Mable) Lamb, and Reva Lamb.
Keith graduated in 1953 from Delphos Jefferson, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He received a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Ohio Northern University in 1957, where he participated in basketball and lettered in baseball. He served in the United States Army from 1958-1960. He went to work for SOHIO Chemical while still in college. He also worked at the People's Bank in Delphos, and then served as treasurer for the Delphos City Schools for 28 years, retiring in 1995. He was an active member of Trinity Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for many years, volunteered at Lima Memorial Hospital for 10 years and in his younger days was an active member of the Delphos Jaycees. Keith was a member of Delphos Jefferson Athletic Boosters, which he helped organize and served as treasurer for over 35 years. In 2010 he was inducted into the Delphos City Schools Hall of Honor. He was a member of Delphos Jefferson Alumni Association. He coached midget football for 32 years and served as president of the Tri-County Midget Football League for 13 years. He coached football for Delphos Jefferson Jr. High for 14 years and freshman for two years. He and Sally continued to be there for all his life as a Jefferson supporter long after his girls and grandchildren had graduated. Keith taught generations of young men in our community how to be good sportsmen and good men. He was a Jefferson, Ohio State and Cleveland Browns football fan. Most of all he was a great example of what a good husband, dad, grandfather, and friend should be.
A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth Street, Delphos, Dr. David A. Baille will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 and also on Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
