Robert Thomas Kinton, 79, passed away on December 3, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most.
A lifelong resident of Youngsville, NC, Robert was a proud graduate of Youngsville High School. From a young age, he found his passion in IHRA drag racing, which began in the 1970s and continued through the Dunn/Benson racetrack in recent years. His love for speed and the racing community was a defining part of who he was.
Robert worked as a tool and die maker throughout his career, lending his skills to Westinghouse, Stackpole, and Bespak. In more recent years, he found great joy working at the Lenovo Center, where he helped park cars and guide guests during hockey games, concerts, and events. He adored his coworkers there, as well as the many people he met along the way. His dedication and work ethic were unmistakable, admired by coworkers who knew him not only for his craftsmanship but also for his love of food, good company, and storytelling.
One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as a founding member of the Youngsville Rescue & EMS, where he dedicated nearly 15 years as chief and over 30 years as a member. His commitment to serving his community was unmatched, and he will be remembered for his willingness to help anyone, anytime.
Those who knew Robert will forever remember his humor, his dramatic and unforgettable stories, his deep dimples, and the way his eyes nearly closed when he laughed. He was thoughtful, generous, and always ready to lend a hand. He loved deeply and lived fully.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Kline Kinton and Nellie Beck Kinton, and by his brother Ronnie Steve Kinton.
He is survived by his brother Jerry Kinton; his children Matthew Kinton, Tiffany Carter, Ashley Kinton, Jessica Kinton, and Steven Kinton; along with many friends and extended family who will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Youngsville Rescue & EMS.
