Robert P. Lamb, Decorated Police Officer, Firefighter, Public Servant, graduate of Lavallette Elementary School, Class of 1972
Robert P. Lamb, a lifelong public servant, defender, and proud 3rd Generation resident of Lavallette, NJ, passed away on May 2, 2025 at the age of 66. His life was defined by courage, service, and his unwavering dedication to family.
Upon his graduation from Point Pleasant Beach High School, Robert served with distinction as a Lavallette Police Officer for over 26 years and firefighter for over 50 years with the Lavallette Volunteer Fire Company, Station 69, started in 1912 by his beloved Latvian grandfather Peter Eagle - roles in which he demonstrated selflessness, integrity, and a commitment to keeping the residents and visitors of Lavallette safe.
He loved bodysurfing off Philadelphia Avenue as the sun set with a good pair of Churchills.
A Third Level Dan in the martial arts form Isshin-Shorinji-Ryu for nearly 50 years, he dedicated his life daily to the pursuit of self-discipline, unrivaled strength, and balance.
Prior to his retirement from police service, he commuted to Connecticut for law school while working midnight shifts. Upon retirement, Robert practiced law and remained serving Lavallette as a Councilman for over 20 years, where he worked tirelessly to support the town he loved. His sharp legal acumen, combined with a lifetime of practical experience in emergency service, brought leadership and a valued perspective daily.
Above all, Robert was a devoted father and friend to all he met. Robert was predeceased by his father James D. Lamb, and his mother Mildred Lamb, nee Eagle.
He is survived by his loving wife Karen of over 35 years and four children, Justin D. Lamb and his wife Ashley, Zachary Lamb and his wife Brianna, Victoria Chester and her husband Mathew, Jillian Lamb and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his two beloved brothers, Barry and Alan, and a wide circle of relatives, friends, and fellow first responders who will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be held at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 706 Grand Central Ave., Lavallette, NJ on Saturday, May 10, 2025 3:00pm - 7:00pm. A funeral service will be offered at 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Lavallette Volunteer Fire Company, Station 69.
Robert will be remembered as a man who lived to serve, defend, and uplift others-a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who knew him and the community he helped shape.

Mrs. Karen,

My wife and I send you our heartfelt condolences and warmest regards during this time of deep sorrow.

Although we only had the opportunity to know Mr. Robert for a few short months, that time was more than enough for him to leave a lasting impression on us. His kindness, gentleness, and warm spirit touched us from the very beginning. It was truly a privilege to have met him, even if briefly.

Today, with heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a man who easily earned our affection through his gracious and friendly nature. We will always treasure the memory of his presence and are grateful for the time we shared.

As a small tribute, and with the hope that his memory will live on for many years, we have planted a tree in his name. May it grow strong and full of life-just as Mr. Robert´s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.

With deepest sympathy and respect,
Luis Escobar & Jacqui Román.

My
Wife and I just met Mr. Lamb last Friday morning over a phone call for our house closing. He was such a nice man and just easy to talk with. We were so happy we chose him for our condo for him to represent us for our paperwork and closing. He was highly recommended by our Realitor Mike Loundy.
We had a short talk with him that day. But looking forward to talking with him more and even helping us with another house we have.
This morning we spoke to Mike and he asked who was our attorney and we told him. He said sorry to tell you this he passed away on Friday. Mike said many kind words about him. He sounded like the nicest man ever! I felt very sad after hearing this and thought about him the rest of today, even though never seeing him in person. I want to tell his family and friends , we give you all our deepest sympathy. Keep him alive in your hearts forever with stories about him and share these stories to others. So sorry for your loss of a great man!

I was once a reporter covering Lavallette politics, and it was right when Bob became a Councilman-elect. Just last month, I saw Bob at the Seaside Heights Council meeting, where he was getting signatures for the upcoming primary. We laughed and talked about the many stories I wrote about Lavallette in the Island (or Ocean County) Gazette. He was such a nice man. Rest In Peace and Condolences to the family.
