Robert ("Bob") Alan Leahy, age 78, died peacefully in his sleep on January 13, 2023, at home in
Fitchburg, WI. Bob was born in
Detroit, MI on August 28, 1944, to Sylvester and Josephine Leahy. Bob graduated from Detroit Country Day School in 1962, Denison University in 1966, and Harvard Business School in 1968. Bob met the love of his life, Jeffrie, at Denison University in the spring of 1964. They were married August 20, 1966. Bob and Jeffrie enjoyed a spirited relationship for almost 60 years. They were a marriage of equals and a wonderful example to their children and grandchildren of true love, partnership, compromise, wit, loyalty, and friendship.
Bob was employed by Eastman Kodak for 27 years. As part of his career, he traveled around the world, but he truly was more content at home with his family and friends. His favorite place in the world was by the water - whether on Upper Straits Lake in Michigan, the Finger Lakes in New York, his home on Lake Sherwood in Wisconsin, or fly fishing with Syl and Ryan.
In his retirement, Bob became the primary chef at home, and he excelled at it. Friends and family enjoyed many fine meals at his home. He made sure to pass along his love for a good medium-rare (on the rare side) steak and wasn't afraid to rib you if you disagreed with him.
Friends of his kids and grandkids were always welcome to join the family on vacation or at the lake. Bob always made sure to make those friends feel at home and like part of the family. So much so, that Bob never failed to put those friends to work! After all, what else would make visitors feel more like family than a list of chores to complete before the fun commenced.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jeffrie; daughter, Charlene (Tom) Yager; son, Ryan Leahy; his grandchildren, Caroline and Audrey Yager and Brayden and Keely Leahy; and his black lab, Murphy. Bob is also survived by his sister, Susie Purdy; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Purdy, John and Barb Beazle, and Jo Ellen and John Such; his nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, John, and Jane Beazle; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jim, and Connie Beazle.
