Robert “Bobby” Leardi, 46, of Shrewsbury, passed away on March 9, 2024. Bobby was born in Worcester on March 30, 1977, to George and the late Jayne (Haglund) Leardi.
Bobby graduated from Westfield State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and went on to become a federal corrections officer. He found joy in traveling, particularly relishing family trips, including their memorable visit to Italy and summers in Cape Cod and Maine. If Bobby wasn’t enjoying the beach, golfing, or walking his dog Archie, you could find him wearing his signature sweatbands while biking or jogging around town. Bobby also participated in the Boston Marathon two times.
As an enthusiastic sports fan, Bobby had a special affection for the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and even the Miami Dolphins. He was especially passionate about diving for foul balls during batting practice. Bobby would even engage in friendly competition with children, but would happily give his catches to the youngest nearby fan.
Renowned for his kind heart and quick wit, Bobby cherished spending time with his family above all else. He devoted his free time to coaching and guiding his children, Gianna, Gino, and Vince.
In addition to his father, Robert is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren (Vaccaro) Leardi; his adored children, Gianna, Gino, and Vince; his cherished brother, Michael Leardi; his loving In- laws, Frank and Jeanne Vaccaro; his compassionate brothers-in-law and sister- in-laws, Matthew Vaccaro and his wife Adriana, Frank Vaccaro Jr. and his wife Samantha and Jillian Vaccaro; his dear grandmother and grandmother-in-law, Jean Leardi and Leonora Vaccaro; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the calling hours on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 10:45 am to 12:45 pm at MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.
