Robert Leonard Obituary
November 30, 1944 - January 18, 2024
Robert "Bob" Keller Leonard passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 79. Bob was born in Bulls Gap, Tennessee to the late Margaret Quillen Leonard and Clint Leonard.
Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Leonard. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sharon Miller Leonard; daughters Shannon Leonard McGehee, Kirsten Jennings, and Lauren Watson; sons Robert Leonard, Jr., Jonathan Leonard, Christopher Leonard, and Michael Jennings; grandchildren, all of whom he adored, Hayden Leonard, Will Leonard, Jack Leonard, Hudson McGehee, Sammy McGehee, Brennan Thyson, Bryden Thyson, Connor Jennings, Juliana Lee, Stella Lee, and Emilyn and Bentley Golz. Bob's grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. He is also survived by his first wife, Sharon Bain Leonard and sister-in-law, Jackie Leonard.
Bob graduated from Wake Forest University in 1966, where he was an All-American basketball player, playing for the late great coach, Bones McKinney. The Los Angeles Lakers selected Bob in the 1966 NBA draft. After a brief time in the NBA Bob attended the Wake Forest University School of Law in 1970. He was the youngest elected Judge in the state of NC at the age of 27. After many years of practicing law Bob retired. He was inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
Bob will be remembered most for his kindness, selflessness, and generosity of spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Salem Funeral Home, 2951 Reynolda Road. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Condolences can be sent online at www.salemfh.com.

Our heart felt saddened goes out to the Lenard Family. Have known them 48 years, and admired the love of this family, grandparents showed love for you children, your mother was super, I can yet today hear her calling each child, Christopher I heard a lot, we share your love and memories, as we lost Robert little friend Greg a few years back. These 2 little boys had great times together.
Always, keep your dear kind and loving dad in your hearts, and he'll always be there with you, and also to his extended family our love to you all!
