Robert "Bobby" Lopez

Robert "Bobby" Lopez, age 72, of Sterling, CO, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 02, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 10:30 A.M. with a Rosary being held prior to mass at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney, NE with Father C.P. Varghese officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery. Following services will be lunch provided at the St. Patrick's Parish Hall. Services will be livestreamed on the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel Facebook page and recorded for later viewing on our website.

Bobby was born on August 5, 1953, in Sidney, Nebraska, to Joaquin and Zenaida Lopez. Bobby graduated from Sidney High School and briefly attended Kearney State College before beginning a life that would take him to many places and connect him with many people.

Bobby moved to Denver with his first wife, where he welcomed his son, Erik. He later returned to western Nebraska, settling in Alliance and working for the Burlington Northern Railroad. His path eventually led him to San Diego, California, where he remarried and welcomed his daughter, Kelly, in 1987. During this time, Bobby worked as an outside salesman for Ewing Landscape Irrigation Supply, a role well suited to his charismatic and outgoing personality. His natural charm and ability to connect with others helped him succeed and left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.

After moving back to Denver, Bobby continued his career with Ewing and later welcomed his second daughter, Jamie. Bobby changed careers and began working at Safeway. He stayed in that line of work until retirement.

In retirement, Bobby settled in Sterling, Colorado, where he enjoyed spending time with friends, cooking and watching his beloved Denver Broncos. He had an appreciation for classic John Wayne movies, was rarely seen without his favorite boots, and took great pride in his plants, tending to them with a true green thumb.

He is survived by his mother, Zenaida Lopez; his brother, Valentino Lopez; his son, Erik and wife Michele Holscher; his daughters, Kelly and husband Dan McCormick and Jamie Lopez; eight grandchildren, Ashlynne Polk, Austin and wife Trinity Holscher, Andrew Holscher, Jaiden Lindley, Ava Lopez, Alaina Lopez, Aaron McCormick, Joshua McCormick; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joaquin Lopez, and his brothers, Joaquin Lopez Jr. and Luis Lopez.
