ROBERT D. "BOB" LYONS

Robert D. "Bob" Lyons, 81, of Piqua, passed away peacefully at 8:53 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026 in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born November 25, 1944 in Piqua to the late Norbert J. and Lois A. (Rayner) Lyons. He married Jill D. Clack March 29, 1963 in Piqua; and she preceded him in death August 23, 2013.

Survivors include a daughter, Tracey (Bruce) Young of Piqua; a son, Tony (Kelli) Lyons of Piqua; five grandchildren, Madison (Jon) Kleinhenz, Bailey (Alexa) Lyons, Caleb (Madi Bolin) Lyons, Ash Gerlach, Jonathan (Fatimah) Gerlach; four great grandchildren, Gabriel, Aiden, Aubrey, Percy; and a sister, Marilyn (Bruce) Malone of Piqua. He was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Mr. Lyons was a 1962 graduate of Piqua Central High School. He began his working career at just 16 years old with Rayner Electric, demonstrating a strong work ethic that would define his life. Over time, he became the owner and operator of the business, dedicating many years to its success. He truly loved his work and remained active in the field well into his 70s. He was a former member of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church. Bob had a deep passion for fishing and was a longtime member of the Miami Valley Bass Masters. He especially cherished the time spent fishing with his family and friends, and took great joy in sharing his love of the sport with his grandchildren. Bob was also a member of the Johnston Farm Friends and contributed his time and energy to the Heritage Festival for many years. In addition, he supported local youth as a member of the Piqua High School Athletic Boosters. He greatly valued the friendships he built over the years, particularly with his card club group, with whom he shared more than 50 years of camaraderie. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A service to honor his life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to Johnston Farm Friends, 9845 N. Hardin Rd.
