Robert "Bob" MacDonald, 86, of Burnt Hill Road, Cadyville, NY died December 20, 2024 at Meadowbrook Nursing Home with his wife at his side. He was born May 12, 1938 in Hartford, NY, the son of the late Oscar and M. Louise Jones MacDonald of Saranac.
After graduating from Saranac High School, Bob served in the Army military police in Okinawa. He worked for Halls Ski Lift for many years traveling all over the states. The last ski lift he worked was on Whiteface Mountain. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1618 in Redford, NY. Bob also worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation for several year until he retired. He was also a member of the Tractor Club (out with the old in with the new), as well as a member of the Draft Horse Club. He had four draft horses and delivered a foal from one of his Clydesdales.
Bob married R. Monica Dame on May 17, 1987.
Including his wife, Bob is survived by his daughter Leslie (Dennis) Bourbeau of Swanton, VT; his sister Patricia A. Eggleston of Saranac, NY; his brother-in-law John (Jack) Duegaw of Maryland; as well as 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his step-son Cory Emplit, his parents, his older sister Janette Duegaw formerly of Stafford, VA, and younger sister Salley Scarborough of Saranac and her husband James.
Donations may be made to SPCA and the Cancer Society.
Per Bob's request, there will be no funeral service or visitation. His wishes are to have a Celebration of Life in the spring.
