Robert L. "Bob" Mackey Sr.

Robert "Bob" L. Mackey, Sr., 91, of Franklin Grove, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation Center. He worked in factories for many years. Bob also did lawn care for many people in the Polo, IL, area up to his retirement.
Bob was born on January 19, 1934, in Fair Haven Township Chadwick, IL, the son of Raymond and Anna (Yoeckel) Mackey. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, and Chicago Cubs. Bob was excited to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series in 2016.
Bob is survived by his children, Teresa (Michael) Mey, Robert (Karen) Mackey, Jr., Corinna (David) Gerdes, Edward (Cindy Maloney) Mackey; 4 grandsons, Ryan (Tara) Mackey, Justin Mackey, Tyler (Lauren) Mey, Jonathan (Alyssa) Gerdes; 2 step-grandchildren, David Wendel, Danielle (Jason) Gilbert; and 13 great-grandchildren
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jordan Michael Mackey; daughter-in-law, Naomi (Riley) Mackey; 7 brothers; and 3 sisters. Bob was the last living member of his immediate family.
Private Family Services will be held per Bob's wishes. Private Family Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Freeport, IL. Cremation Rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon, IL, and/or Franklin Grove Living & Rehabilitation Center.
