Robert Marley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Chadwick & McKinney Funeral Home, Inc. on Sep. 12, 2025.
Robert P. Marley February 18, 1960 – September 9, 2025 Robert Patrick Marley, 65, of Lower Gwynedd, PA, passed away tragically on September 9, 2025 in a bicycle accident. Born on February 18, 1960, in New Brunswick, NJ, Robert was the beloved son of Emmett and Virginia (née DeLuca) Marley. Raised in Edison, NJ in a hardworking and loving home, Robert always put family first throughout his life. He attended Lehigh University, where he studied Electrical Engineering, and went on to Fordham University School of Law, where he met the love of his life, Susan O'Hagan. They married in 1989 and shared 36 wonderful years together, raising 4 children who adored him. He was known among the intellectual property bar as an insightful advocate. He leaves behind a world made better by his life, and he will be so deeply missed. Robert was an avid cyclist since early childhood, a joy he passed on to his family and shared with his cycling team of many years. A true engineer, Robert relished working with his hands, particularly rigging household gadgets and building innovative machinations from scratch to the delight of his family and friends. Robert's mechanical ingenuity was matched only by his silly sense of humor and quick wit, often deployed with flawless comedic timing. He was quietly brilliant, and lived every day for others. He was generous with his time and always looking to lend a hand. He did so much for so many. Robert's memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Susan (née O'Hagan); his beloved mother Virginia; his daughters, Elizabeth (Joseph Motola) and Emily (Christopher Bragale); his sons, Daniel and Michael; his soon-to-be grandson, whose middle name will be Robert; and his devoted goldendoodle, Rory. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Marley-Matts (George Matts); and his many treasured nieces and nephews. All are invited to celebrate Robert's extraordinary life on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Church of Saint Asaph, 27 Conshohocken State Road, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. Visitation is from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. James School c/o Advancement. 3217 W. Clearfield Street, Philadelphia, PA 19132. https://stjamesphila.org/donate/

Bob has been a long time colleague and friend. We worked together first at Lucent Technologies Intellectual Property group and again over the past year at PPS. One of my fondest memories was when we were in London walking along the Thames River where large crowds were gathering, we asked what was going on and one of the onlookers said "they are retiring the Royal Yacht". We watched as Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Princess Diana disembarked the yacht, all the while Bob was snapping photos of the event. I always enjoyed traveling and working with Bob and will miss his quick wit and professionalism. Sincerest condolences to Bob´s family, a kind soul taken too soon.
