Robert Nathan "Bob" Martin

HILLSBOROUGH: Robert Nathan "Bob" Martin, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by his family, who never left his side. Born on January 23, 1939 in Guilford County, he lived a life rich with love, devotion, and simple joys.
Bob devoted his career to working in Pipe Insulation for National Asbestos Workers, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. After retiring in 1999, Bob served as the Financial Secretary for Local 72 for many years. Outside of his professional life, Bob found great pleasure in the simpler things. He held a profound love for the Lord and was a member of Hillsborough Church of God. Whether it was spending time with family, enjoying the serenity of fishing, or basking in the sun at the beach, Bob embraced life's moments with enthusiasm. His red Ford Ranger truck and deep appreciation for NASCAR were among his cherished interests.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ila Nancy Martin and Harrison Porter Martin, as well as his brothers, Roger Martin and Myron Martin.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Ann Martin, who stood by his side through all of life's journeys. He leaves behind his devoted daughters, Lisa Moore and Jennifer Summey, along with her husband Kevin. His brother Owen Martin and wife Patricia, as well as his sister Inez West, also survive him. Bob's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jessica McGraw and husband Patrick, Olivia Gibbs, Aaron Summey, and Christian Summey. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Scarlett Summey, James McGraw, Isla McGraw, London Ford, Harper Ford, and River Ford, who brought immense joy to his later years.
A graveside service to honor Bob's life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Efland United Methodist Memorial Cemetery located at 1401 Brookhollow Rd. Family and friends are invited to gather and remember a man whose kindness and spirit touched all who knew him after the service at First Love Community Church at 512 US 70 in Hillsborough.
Bob's memory will endure in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace.
