Robert Samuel Mason Jr.

Robert Samuel Mason, Jr., 69, of Conyers, GA passed away on December 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

Rob was born on January 2, 1956 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of Robert Samuel Mason, Sr. and Alice Compton Mason. He attended Jacksonville State University for his bachelor's degree and the University of Louisville for his master's degree, both in voice performance. Rob worked as a high school music teacher at Riverwood High School. He then transitioned to working for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) where he had a career as an air traffic controller and in the the FAA Regional Office in College Park. He retired in 2016 after almost 31 years with the FAA. In his spare time, he also had a prolific career as a page turner for his wife, Judy, that took him from Spivey Hall to Carnegie and around the world with the Spivey Hall Children's Choir.

Before retiring, Rob took up golf and enjoyed playing with his friends whenever the weather permitted. He also held a lifelong love of music. Rob was a member of Haven Fellowship Church and volunteered as the music minister for the last 15 years.

Rob married his wife of nearly 39 years on January 3, 1987, and they had one child, Katie, in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Katie Mullis (Ben); mother, Alice Mason; brother, Brent Mason (Teresa); nieces and nephews, Blake Mason (Stephanie), Wade Mason (Kaitlyn), Joy Wooddell (Steven), Christie Barr (Chris), Scott Kerlin (Meagan), Claire Rowe (Andy); many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other family. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Mason, Sr.

Visitation will be held at Haven Fellowship Church in Conyers, GA on January 10, 2026 from 1-3pm with the memorial service immediately following at 3pm. Ernie Forrester and Josh Gribble will officiate.
