Robert Steven "Bob" Matz, age 63, of North Ridgeville, passed away in hospice on Saturday, August 30, 2025. He was an employee at Corix Thermal Power Plant in Cleveland and truly loved his job. He was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W., Lake Erie Shores Jeep and LOCO Jeep club. Bob enjoyed Jeeping, motorcycling, camping, traveling and socializing with family, friends and co-workers. He loved music, his cats, was always kind, had a great sense of humor and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Karen (nee Hamfeldt); son Ryan Matz; mother Joan Skalak; sisters Barbara Jean (Mike) Murphy, Julie Chambers and Nancy (Dave) Steckel; stepbrothers Don (Cathy) Skalak and Jeff (Diana) Skalak; stepsister Barbara Ann (John) Allison; brother-in-law Scott Miller; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Bob was preceded in death by his father Richard Matz; stepfather Donald Skalak; sister Susan Miller; brother-in-law John Chambers. Family will receive friends in the Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville on Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service preceding a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road, North Ridgeville. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park. Family suggests donations be made in Bob's name to the Friendship APL at https://friendshipapl.org/donate/
