Robert Charles May

Robert Charles May, 78, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Born on July 9, 1947, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Robert lived a life rooted in faith and family.

He earned four degrees from the University of Tennessee and retired from Y-12 National Security Complex. In addition, Robert owned Codes and Vessels.

A man of faith, Robert found strength and guidance through his spiritual beliefs. His unwavering devotion to God shaped the way he lived-steadfast in his values and deeply loyal to those around him. He was a Sunday School teacher, a deacon, and a member of the Chancel Choir. He was also active in the Kids Hope ministry and held several positions in his church.

He and his beloved wife, Dianne Webster May, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2025 - a milestone that reflected a lifetime of shared love and partnership. Together they built a family grounded in devotion and care. Robert was the proud father to Jennifer (Matthew) Pickwell and Melissa (Kevin) Lee. His joy multiplied with the arrival of his granddaughters, Elsie Kate and Hensley Grace Pickwell, who brought light to his later years.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Laura May, and his brother, Paul May. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made in the form of contributions to Olive Branch Ministries, PO Box 1977, Corbin, KY 40702, First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, 1101 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830, or the charity of the donor's choice.
