Obituary published on Legacy.com by St. John's Family Funeral Home & Crematory on Feb. 27, 2026.
Robert Edward Mazza Jr- 8/13/1950- 2/22/26

Born August 13, 1950 in Atlantic Beach, Jacksonville to parents Robert Mazza Sr and Mary Louise Grieco (Cornwell) he graduated from Fletcher High School where he played football and spent his days surfing.

He attended the University of Florida before becoming a Florida Licensed General Contractor and owning Mazza Construction for 35 years. He built residential homes, commercial buildings and renovations in Jacksonville and Saint Augustine. Building wasn't just a livelihood- It was his life, as his strong hands and brilliant mind never stopped creating spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Bob and Lori married in 1974 and spent nearly everyday for 55 years together. He was a devoted husband and loved her deeply. Together, Bob and Lori raised Jessica, Andrea and Christina.

Along with his talented friends help, He built his beautiful home on the St. Johns River in Switzerland in 1976, where spent his life and carried out his final days with family.

Bob was a deep thinker with a free, innovative mind. He loved reading and had an intense desire to learn about diverse cultural perspectives and history. He never hesitated when the grandchildren wanted to play and would fill the yard with their laughter. He was a proud native Floridian, loving the sunshine and water. Later in life, you could find him on the back porch, tapping his fingers to his favorite music and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

He was a humble, steady and grounded man full of passion and integrity. He respected people's desires to live on their own terms so long as that's what made them happy.

He will leave behind a legacy of craftsmanship, profound insight, humility, and most of all, his love.

He will be immensely missed by his wife, children, and 8 grandchildren; Gavin & Ethan Wilson; Sam, Avery & Daphne Scott; Mazzie & Marlie Dean and Cyrus Similly. He was so proud to be their Papa.

Sister Nancy (Jack) Grogan, of Pisgah forest, NC; Brother Wesley Cornwell of Mayport, FL
