Robert Wayne McCoy, 75, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Born in Kittery, Maine, on December 31, 1948, Bob was the son of the late Evelyn M. (Lewis) and Robert M. McCoy. He graduated from Crawford High School in San Diego, California, in 1967.
Bob proudly served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973, earning numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Stars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
On July 10, 1977, he married Karen Christiansen in Spring Valley, California and moved to Kansas in 2013.
Bob had a passion for classic cars and loved to tinker. He was an avid baseball fan and also enjoyed playing pool. He loved his family.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Casey McCoy (Melissa), of Salina; grandsons, Connor and Callan McCoy; two sisters, Barbara Smith, of Lakeside, California and Roberta Dunn (Steve), of Sacramento, California; and his brother, Robert "Rob" McCoy (Michelle), of Big Bear, California. Bob also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Richard "Rick" Smith.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Edward Jones for his grandsons' college education, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.
