Robert Gilbert McCoy

Gill McCoy was born May 24, 1966, at McCall Memorial Hospital in McCall, Idaho. A fifth generation Valley County native attending McCall Donnelly schools until graduation in 1984. In his school years he really enjoyed choir, basketball, and baseball. After graduation he attended culinary and business management classes at BSU. He finished chef training in Alaska where he lived for nearly ten years. Returning to Idaho Gill continued working in food service off and on for the rest of his life. There's probably not an eatery in McCall that he wasn't familiar with. He did change careers for a bit to become a masseuse until it became too painful for his hands. Known for his quick wit and insight Gill touched many lives. Gentle sarcasm and irony were part of his tool kit, but he had a gentle soul and easy laugh. A good uncle, he was preceded in death by both parents (Bob and Harriet), brother Tim, and sister Roxanne. He is survived by brother Mike, sisters Leslie and Shannon, and a number of nieces and nephews. Celebration of life to be held at McCall Little Ski Hill, September 20, 2025, at 2:00pm.
