Rob grew up under the watchful eyes of his father, Phillip McDonald, and his mother, the late Donna Ruth Horne. His formative years were spent in the company of his grandparents, Virgie and Grady McDonald, and Bill and Ruth Horne whose memory he held close to his heart until his final days. Rob's life was further enriched by his stepmother, Jan McDonald, who sat by his side in his final days and the companionship of Linda Wilder, beloved friend and assisted care giver, who shared in his passions and joys for many years.
A proud graduate of Marlow High School, Robert carried the spirit of his hometown throughout his life. His work as a Land Man for the oil and gas industry was more than a career; it was a testament to his commitment to the community and the land he so deeply cherished. His professional endeavors were paralleled by an active involvement in industry associations, where he made significant contributions through his expertise and collaborative spirit.
Beyond his professional life, Robert was a man of many interests. In the Oil and Gas Industry, he found pleasure in the simple things - going out to eat, savoring good music, and attending concerts. These moments of enjoyment were only amplified when shared with his family, who were the cornerstone of his world. Robert's love for his family was evident in the time he dedicated to being with them, creating memories that they will treasure forever. Rob came into contact with a few celebrities during his travel such as Tina Turner, Derek Trucks, and Charlie Pride.
Rob's passion for life extended to his love for the countryside. He often spent his free time driving through the vast, open landscapes, taking in the beauty of the natural world. His hobbies included playing golf and shooting pool. These quiet moments of reflection were a source of peace and happiness for him. Rob's favorite vacation spot was Hot Springs, Arkansas where he met and made many close friends that he stayed in contact with for 30 years. Rob would at times spasmodically do something that most people would consider as a prank or caper that would sometimes backfire on him, and the person that the prank was on was unable to comprehend, the humor was an escapade.
As we remember Rob, we reflect on a life well-lived - one filled with laughter, music, and the warmth of shared experiences. He was a man who embraced life's journey with an open heart and a generous spirit. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is also survived by his former stepdaughter, Chenoa Avens and husband, Newly, and his grandsons, Marshall and Lawson Avens, whom he cherished as his own, who brought much joy and laughter into his life.
