Robert "Rob" Lee McDowell, formerly of Stockton, Kansas passed away on August 23, 2025, at Smith Center Memorial Hospital in Smith Center, Kansas, at the age of 71. He was born on May 17, 1954, to Arthur "Art" and Mary (Paulsen) McDowell in Smith Center, Kansas.
Robert grew up north of Woodston and graduated from Stockton High School in 1973.
He worked for Rooks County and also spent time driving trucks. A man of many interests, Robert had a deep love for farming and enjoyed playing snooker and darts. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a loyal supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs. Known for his warm heart and easygoing nature, Robert was deeply loved by his friends and family.
Robert is survived by his sister-in-laws, Regina McDowell, of Minden, Nebraska, Cindy McDowell, of Stockton, Kansas; Nieces and nephews, Shawna Lockhorn, of Minden, Nebraska, Shara Schurmann, of Minden, Nebraska; Wade McDowell, of Hill City, Kansas, Niki McDowell, of Leawood, Kansas, Ed Thayer, of Stockton, Kansas, Cherie Garcia, of Hays, Kansas, cousin, Sue Lesage, of Stockton, Kansas and many other cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary McDowell, brothers and sisters, Ronald McDowell, Nancy Thayer, Arthur J.R. McDowell, Donald McDowell and niece, Becky Wise.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, south of Kirwin.
