Robert "Robby" McQueeney, 70, of Southington CT, known for his good humor and poetic soul, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, after a long illness, with his loving husband Romel Vera Macias by his side.
Robby was born on a sunny day on March 12, 1955 in
Hartford, CT to Raymond and Ruth (Seely) McQueeney, as their beloved only child. He is survived by his husband Romel, his daughters Madeline Irons and her husband Sam, and Casey McQueeney, his son Miles McQueeney and his wife Deidre, step-son Paul Dailey and his wife Jen, and his former wife and cherished friend Jacqueline (Aucoin) McQueeney.
He is also survived by his many grandchildren (who affectionately referred to him as their "Poppy"): Gemma, Kylie and Jake, Milea and Adalynn, and Chloe and Kaileigh, whom he loved with all his heart.
Robby will always be remembered by his family for his adoration of Cape Cod, and more specifically, the sandy wonder of the rolling dunes of Provincetown. His adventures are preserved in his photography as the Dune Tramp, which enjoyed publication in various venues of the Cape Cod Community. He also loved facilitating fun family traditions and included his beloved pet companions wherever possible. Robby was a gentle man who was always ready to share a smile and a laugh with those around him.
While he will be deeply missed by his family and friends, we know he is out there tramping the dunes of the Cape with his dogs Petey and Holly at his side, admiring the surf and stars.
Donations in Robby's memory may be made to the Peaked Hill Trust, which maintains and preserves the dune shacks of Cape Cod, that he loved so much. Please visit their website, peakedhilltrust.org, to join or make a direct contribution.
