Funeral services for Mr. Robert Duane Melder will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora, with Reverends Bo Alston and Chance Lawrence officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Melder, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Robert Duane Melder, 65, of Glenmora, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Oakdale Community Hospital, Oakdale, LA.
Robert was a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid LSU fan. He loved sports and was a longtime baseball coach. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Odell and Mary Melder; and great grandparents, Aubrey and Ruth Melder.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include one son, Cory Melder of Glenmora; two daughters, Kayla Thomas (Cody) of Glenmora, and Kelsey Rhoades (Tyler) of Glenmora; five grandchildren, Laigan Melder, Trypp Thomas, Keileigh Thomas, Tatum Thomas, and Kaia Rhoades; the mother of his children, Cherri Melder of DeRidder; his nephew, Jesse Thompson of Boyce; his niece, Kaycee Thompson of Hineston; one brother, Aubrey "Boo" Melder of Elizabeth; three sisters, Audrey Alston (Jimmy) of Glenmora, Brenda Billings (Curtis) of Glenmora, and Christine Mason of Glenmora; and his fur baby, Spanky.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora, on Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora, on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Cory Melder, Jesse Thompson, Laigan Melder, Devon Mason, Stevie Thompson, and Trypp Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Tatum Thomas, Tyler Rhoades, and Cody Thomas.
The family asks that everyone attending please wear LSU attire.
