Funeral services for Mrs. Carole Ann Henderson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora. Interment will follow in Butter Cemetery, Forest Hill, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Henderson, 81, of Dallas, Texas, entered eternal rest on May 12, 2024, at Brentwood Campus of Care in Dallas, Texas.
Carole Ann Olson Henderson, 81, of Dallas, Texas, was born on January 27, 1943, to Tena Broussard Olson and Reuben Olson in Gilroy, California. She was the first born of six kids, Janet Sherman (Gale) of Marksville, LA, Marty Olson (Shirley) of Center Point, LA, Tina de Valcourt (Ken) of Lafayette, LA, Susan Mayeux (Tim) of Alexandria, LA, and James Olson (Suzan) of Dallas, TX. She was married to her first husband, David Ostrow for eleven years before he passed away. Carole was then married to David Henderson for forty-three years until his death in 2018.
She had two children, Michael Henderson of Rapides Parish, and Liz Muder (Chris) of Dallas, Texas. Carole was blessed with five grandchildren, Cody Henderson, Jesse Henderson, Noah Muder, Peyton Muder, and Sophie Muder. She loved being a part of her grandkids lives by watching them grow up, attend school, and develop their passions in writing, music, orchestra, athletics, theater, and dance. Like any other grandparent, she also enjoyed buying them gifts to show her love when she could. Carole was a big lover of the outdoors and country living with dogs, horses, pigs, cats, chickens, and her own spring and summer garden.
Her celebrity crush was Tom Selleck. She loved the Lonesome Dove series, Yellowstone, The Chosen, Quigley Down Under, Cold Mountain, The Man from Snowy River; if it had horses in it - she would watch it. Carole was a do-it-yourself kinda gal. She wasn't going to wait on anybody to help her with typical 'masculine' things.
She taught herself to play the guitar and developed a love for singing. All of her siblings were talented singers and musicians. She loved good music - honky tonk, country, rhythm and blues - the good stuff from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
She could also predict the ending of movies or 'what would happen next' in a show, which at times, could be frustrating for those around her.
In the end, her favorites things were Dr. Pepper and sweet tea, nutty bars, the occasional moon pie, and watching HGTV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Tena Olson; her first husband, David Ostrow; her second husband, David Henderson; and her sister, Janet Sherman.
Those left to mourn her loss while cherishing her memory include her two brothers, Marty Olson and James Olson; two sisters, Tina de Valcourt and Susan Mayeux; her stepdaughter, Jill McKee (Gary); her son, Michael Henderson; her daughter, Liz Muder (Chris); her grandsons, Cody Henderson, Jesse Henderson, Noah Muder, and Peyton Muder; and her granddaughter, Sophie Muder. Carole also had many beloved nieces and nephews who survived her, Sonia Sherman, Mitchell Sherman, Nikki Sherman, Tracy Olson, Jessica Ducote (Glenn), Allison Lemmon (Chad), Ty de Valcourt (Raine), Josh Mayeux (Jen), Jake Mayeux (Michele), Sarah Thompson, and Heidi Engel (Ken).
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Glenmora, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services.
