Robert Lee Menear, 90, of Kingwood, WV, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
He was born in Kanes Creek, WV on September 28, 1934, a son of the late Edwin V. and Jessie B. (Shaffer) Menear.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked for the City of Kingwood for many years as the scale house manager for the transfer station. His ability to organize, lead, and keep things running smoothly earned him the respect and admiration of everyone who worked with him. In his free time, he was an avid fisherman, finding peace and fulfillment in the stillness of the water, casting his line with patience and skill. Robert was also a passionate traveler who took every opportunity to explore new places with his beloved wife Lou Amma in their motor home. Stories of their travels, and the experiences collected along the way, will live on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to hear them.
Robert is survived by his children, Robin Anderson of Kingwood and Michael Menear; two grandsons, Cody Anderson and Michael Menear Jr.; a great grandson, Noah Lee Anderson and one sister, Lucille Bias.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lou Amma (Greathouse) Menear; five brothers; Otta Menear, Mason Menear, Virgil (Spud) Menear, Charles Menear and Lloyd Menear; two sisters, Nellie Taylor and Sylvia Plum.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4 – 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am Saturday, March 8, 2025, with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood.
