Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Brown Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home.
Robert (Mickey) grew up in Vera, Texas and attended school in Seymour, Texas where he met and married Helen Bolts Mergerson. From their union they had five children. Robert worked for many years as an over- the -road truck driver, starting at the age of 19, hauling mostly cattle and grain for Ed Pechacek, Charlie and Billy Jake Myers, Edward Boyd, Melvin Neil and many more. Robert loved to spend time with his family, working, fishing, riding horses and traveling. He met no strangers, was loved and respected by many. He loved meeting new people telling stories about his experiences. His children would like you to know that he instilled in them to always treat others as you would like to be treated, look people in their eye, be honest, always keep your word and if you had to fight do not start it, but you better finish it! Robert is preceded in death by his parents Oliver Sr. and Etta Mae (Jordan) Mergerson, sisters; Esther (Mergerson) Alonzo, Rosemary (Mergerson) Flemmings, Mattie (Mergerson) Stegall and Nell Mergerson, brothers; L.D Mergerson, Oliver Mergerson Jr., Charles Mergerson, Clarkston Mergerson, Clarence Mergerson, Lawerence Mergerson Sr. and Maryon Mergerson. Robert is survived by his children: Robert H. Mergerson Jr. (Nicole) of Arlington, TX, Debra Mergerson of Fort Worth, TX, Jacqulyn Mergerson (Donald) of Irving, TX, Vernon Mergerson (Marcia) of Nacogdoches, TX, and Elane (Mergerson) Jones (Demetrius) of Greenville, TX. 11 grandchildren; Joshua Sr., Brittane, Skye (Adrian), Robert III, James (Ty) III, Tiarra (William), Tawana (Timothy), Tamara, Tyesha (Demarcus), Jordan (Chella),and Michaela. 25 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. LeCreata Mergerson quoting she was his favorite.
