Robert Carl Meyer

Mr. Robert Carl Meyer of Matamoras, PA died Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Bon Secours Community Hospital. He was 90.
He was born February 14, 1932 in Port Jervis, NY the son of the late Karl Meyer and the late Kathryn J. Shay Meyer.
Robert married Joan Pearl Stewart on May 16, 1954 and they were married for 68 years prior to her passing on September 8, 2022.
He was a Foreman in the Carpenters Union Local # 255 where he worked for many years.
Robert was a Life Member of the Westfall Fire Dept. where he served for 63 years and was a past Captain.
He was an avid hunter even telling old hunting stories up until his last days. Robert bowled at the Minisink Lanes Friday Night Men's League. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the fire house and horseshoes.
A family statement read: Dad was a family man who loved the simple things in life. He was an accomplished Carpenter helping to build both of his daughters' houses. In the 1950's he also helped build what is now the new Delaware Valley High School.
He and Joan had a house at Mohican Lake in Glen Spey, NY where the family would spend many summers at the lake enjoying motorboat rides, water skiing and sail boating. Dad also enjoyed spending winters in Florida with mom. The family would then come down to meet them in Florida to spend Easter.
Surviving are:
2 Daughters JoEllen DeGraw (Nathan) and Bobbi Rotondo (Dominic)
3 Grandchildren: Kristopher Hissam (Rosalva), Matthew Hissam (Cassidy) and Danielle Rotondo.
2 Great grandchildren: Camila Hissam and Sofia Hissam,
1 Sister-in-law, Lillian Houghtaling
Also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was predeceased by his sisters-in-law Dorothy Buczek (Stanley) and Margie O'Neill (Charles) and his brother-in-law Charles Houghtaling.
A visitation will be held at the Gray Parker Funeral Home, Inc., 100 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY 12771 on Saturday, October 29, 2022 from 10:00am – 12:00 noon.
Firematic services will be at 11:45 am on Saturday, October 29, 2022 followed by a funeral service at 12:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Amy Garrett officiating.
Burial to follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Matamoras, PA.
