Robert "Bob" Mikel

Robert "Bob" Mikel, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Acton, Kentucky, on January 27, 1939, Bob was a man who lived a full and vibrant life, enriched by his love for family, horses, and the spirit of Kentucky. He was a lifelong resident of Sellersburg, Indiana. Bob was a member of the American Legion post 204 and the Sellersburg Moose Lodge, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships he made.

Bob was the beloved son of the late James Henry Mikel and Minnie Pearl Mikel. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Thomas, and his second wife, Charlene Rae Mikel. His siblings, Aileene, Willis, Joe, Ethel, and James, also predeceased him, but their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Bob worked for Fawcett Printing in Louisville, dedicating years of hard work to the company. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and his passion for the Kentucky Derby, his favorite time of the year. An avid lover of race horses, Bob found immense joy in the thrilling energy and spirit of the races.

He is survived by his loving children: daughter Pamela K. Grant and her husband Bob; sons Dennis W. Mikel, Larry J. Mikel and his wife Laura, Robert A. Mikel and his wife Kristie and his step-daughter, Angela Isaacs. Bob was also the proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In accordance with Bob's wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Sellersburg Cemetery.
