Obituary published on Legacy.com by Andras Crematory & Funeral Home Alternatives on Aug. 20, 2024.
Robert John Minning, age 75, (Bob) went home to Heaven on August 17th while surrounded by his closest family members. He was born December 23, 1948 in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late Robert and Barbara (nee Voyer) Minning.
Bob was a devoted and loyal husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Memories of Bob will always be cherished by his loving wife Cheryl, his four beloved daughters Laura Minning Sims, Melissa Minning (Robb), Jennifer Minning Grimes, and Amy Butcher (David), and his stepdaughter Victoria Willis, who survive him.
He is also survived by his sister, Paula McGinnis (Dave), and beloved extended family members sister-in-law Deborah Gaub (Ed, deceased) and brother-in-law James Maskil (Pamela), as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Bob is preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, Linda Ann Minning (nee Maskil), brother, Louis Minning (surviving sister-in-law, Betty), and sister, Jeanette VanBelleghem (surviving brother-in-law, Daniel). He was also preceded in death by his beloved in-laws, James and Dolores Maskil.
Bob spent his professional years as a machinist solving complicated manufacturing issues for strapping machines. He made it his life's work to leave each customer better off than when he first met them. He traveled the world on behalf of Signode, Polychem, and DuBose Strapping & Packaging.
Bob loved spending time with family and friends - hosting barbeques, playing golf, and telling outrageous jokes. He was also a talented musician who played the guitar and piano and sang in a barbershop quartet. He was an active member of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (SPEBSQSA). He dearly loved his often spoiled furry felines, Coco and Precious, who he swore he didn't want.
One of Bob's greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and newest great-grandchild. He was known as "Papa" to all. His blessings included: Anya and Robert Sims; Samuel, Paul, Jack and James Boron; Robert, Frank and George Parker; Benjamin and Nathan Grimes; Matthew and Ella Butcher; Xavier and Cole Pickryl; and great-grandson, Robert Allan Parker.
Bob was a man of great faith and integrity. Daily he quoted, "This is the day the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. I am what the word of God says I am. I can do what the word of God says I can do. I will be what the word of God says I will be."
Thank you, Bob, for the beautiful legacy you have left behind for all of us to remember. You were a respected man and deeply loved by all those who had the pleasure of knowing you.
