JAY, NY Robert J. Minogue, 71, passed away with his family by his side. Bob, as we all knew him, went into the arms of our Lord on December 3rd, 2023 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bob retired from the NYS Department of Corrections and he and Mary spent the winters in Port Orange, Florida with many friends who they consider family. Bob was a huge Nascar fan and could be found at the track with friends cheering on his favorite driver. Along with Nascar Bob enjoyed hiking, fishing and hunting.
Bob loved all his four-legged pets from, JD the Cat, Neco the Chow, Buster his first pup to Tucker the bird, even though he is only two legged.
Bob traveled a lot over the course of his career so that he could make a living for himself and the love of his life Mary. When Bob retired, he had achieved the rank of Captain at the Dannemora Prison. He had many years of extensive training and was an instructor and leader in many departments throughout his career.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Mary and his baby dog Zoey who never left his side; his brother William (Shawn) Minogue, and their two sons Brandon and Kristopher; sister Jan (Jake) Rafferty, and their children Michael, Elizabeth, and Kayla; sister Marilyn (Larry) Plishka and their children Nicole, Tanner, and Jarrod; and his foster brother Karl Hart; sister-in-law Tina Terry (Tim) Preston and their sons Trevor and Colton; brother-in-law Charles (Joyce) Terry Jr., and their daughter Caitlin; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents James and Freda (Pat) Minogue.
Calling hours will be January 5, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, 3 College St., Au Sable Forks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name Church in Au Sable Forks; with a reception to follow at Up-a-Creek Restaurant, 5545 NY-86, Wilmington.
Donations can be made in Bob's memory to the Wilmington Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an Honorary Member.
Services were entrusted to Heidrick-Zaumetzer Funeral Home, Au Sable Forks. Words of remembrance may be left at www.hzfuneralhome.com.
