Robert Dale Moon, 92, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, at the Manor of Elfindale, in Springfield, Mo. Born on January 16, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Charles Moon and Lois Rhoades, Robert was a 1951 graduate of Ruskin High School, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Robert lived a life defined by service and passion. He proudly served in the United States Air Force with the rank of Master Sergeant, from 1952 until his honorable discharge on September 30, 1972. Following his military career, he found great joy in the arts and exploration, frequently attending the theater, listening to opera, and traveling. He was an avid reader, a lover of fine wine , and a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
On June 22, 1995, Robert married the love of his life, Betty Moon, in Liberty, Missouri. Together, they shared 30 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Betty. Robert is survived by his children: Mark Moon (Linda) of North Kansas City, MO, Linda Sharp of Kansas City, MO and Jeff Moon (Karen) of Kansas City, Kansas. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Saundra Riley of Doniphan, MO, Dan Moore (Linda) of Branson West, MO, Lori Gassen (Patrick) of Lee's Summit, MO, Mark Moore (Michele) of Niangua, MO, and Joseph Dewitt of Strafford, MO. His memory will be cherished by his siblings: Nancy Moon of Gig Harbor, Washington; Ginger Coney of Portage, Michigan; and James Rose of San Diego, California, along with his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A military service with full honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.
