Robert Neal Mullins, Sr. (Bob), son of Arthur and Samantha Mullins of Pound, VA, passed away March 30th after a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was preceded in death by his brothers Roger, Junior, and Benny Allen Mullins; a twin brother; sister, Frances Short; and infant grandson, Jamie Mullins.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Josephine Shelton Mullins; his children, Neal Mullins (Denee) of Abingdon, VA, Randy Mullins of Clintwood, VA, Debbie Lane (Jeff) of Gate City, VA, Joseph Mullins (Amie) of Abingdon, VA, Cindy Davis (Howie) of Knoxville, TN; stepson Scott Shelton of Abingdon, VA; brother, Danny Joe Mullins (Kyong) of Bristol, VA; sisters, Mona Sue Mullins (Herman) of Abingdon, VA, Wilma Powers of Abingdon, VA, and Glenda Stanley (Elder) of Clintwood, VA; 23 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband to Josephine who brought much happiness to his life. He was a loving father and grandfather who loved to make jerky and fudge for all his family and friends. Bob was a retired coal miner and his hobbies were hunting, fishing and growing a plentiful garden so he could share with family and friends. He was affectionately known as “Papaw BB” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the funeral home with John Bebber officiating along with music provided by Anita Boyd and group. A committal service will follow at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Neal Mullins, Joseph Mullins, Briana Mullins, Ben Mullins, Jay Mullins, Daniel Mullins, Brendon Mullins, Justin Reed and Kimmy Mullins. Honorary pallbearers are Robert James Mullins, Scott Shelton, Jeff Lane, Howie Davis and Herman Duty.
