Robert Murray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ammen Family Cremation & Funeral Care - Melbourne on Feb. 12, 2026.
Robert R. "Dick" Murray, 88, of Indialantic, Florida, passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Becky Murray, in 2014, and his daughter Katie Fortier, in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Landis, of Indialantic; three daughters: Maggie Seitz (Tom), Annie Murray (Gustavo de los Reyes) and Corrie Prunuske (David); one son, Robert R. Murray Jr (Kim); 20 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in Washington, Pennsylvania, he married his high school sweetheart, then graduated from Carnegie Tech (now Carnegie Mellon University) with a degree in Electrical Engineering. While at CMU he was a member of their undefeated football squad of 1954, and he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. In 1965, after being fed up with northern winters, he and his family moved to Indialantic so he could work in the Apollo program. Later, he worked for various divisions of the Harris corporation, involving moves to New England and back to Florida. During his career, he acquired 19 patents in printing technology, and he traveled through Europe, troubleshooting printing press installations, finishing his career at Heidelberg Harris in Dover, NH. Dick always embraced new adventures: He was a licensed private pilot, owned and raced sailboats, built a canoe, and even briefly owned a lobster boat. Retiring to Indialantic in 2003, he enjoyed fishing, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, solving math and physics puzzles, caring for his dogs, and fixing things. Always Dick considered himself a lucky person, and he was lucky to find love again, marrying Sharon, in 2023. With her, he traveled to Hawaii and he took up a new hobby of antique clock repair. He was a kind, thoughtful person who was always trying to make the world better, and he will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him. Burial will be private.
