Robert G. Nielsen

Robert G. Nielsen Robert G. Nielsen, 84, of Wells, NY passed away at the home of his daughter, in Middle Grove after a long illness on Monday, January 5, 2026 with his family at his side.
Robert was born on October 16, 1941 in Niskayuna, NY, the son of the late Maurice and Ruth Hagadorn Nielsen.
Robert worked for General Electric and later Knolls Atomic Power Lab until his retirement in 2001. He lived for many years in West Charlton until his retirement. He then moved to Wells where he lived until recently moving to Middle Grove to live with his daughter.
He was a volunteer fireman for many years, first with the West Charlton and later with the Wells Volunteer Fire Department. He was also active with the Great Sacandaga Lake Fishing Federation.
In addition to his parents, Robert is also predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Mary Anna Olshefsky Nielsen, who passed away September 5, 2021; and his brother, Richard Nielsen.
Survivors include his children, Matthew Nielsen, Paul Nielsen and Carol Remscheid; 5 grandchildren, Rebecca and Samantha Nielsen, and Lucas, Joseph and Ava Remscheid; as wells as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 14th from 5 until 7pm at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 12noon at the funeral home followed by burial at Park Cemetery in Scotia.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the West Charlton Volunteer Fire Department, the Wells Volunteer Fire Department or to Community Hospice of Saratoga County.
