Frederick R. Glaser

Frederick R. Glaser, 87, of Glenville, passed away on December 18, 2025, at Ellis Hospital after complications following a short illness.
Born November 4, 1938, in Glenville, Fred graduated from Scotia High school in 1956. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, he was employed for a year by Wallace's Department Store in Schenectady, until he began his long-time service to the General Electric Company in 1962. He retired as a Machinist in 1995.
Fred enjoyed his retirement, and loved traveling, casinos, gardening, and fly-fishing. He had a very green thumb and could make anything grow and flourish, especially his beautiful flowers that he surrounded his home with during the season. He was an avid reader, and nobody could beat him at Words With Friends. He was a long-time member of Trout Unlimited, Clearwater Chapter. Deeply loved by his family and well-liked by his friends, Fred will be sorely missed by all.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years Carolyn (Weitzel), who he married in 1964; his daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Bradley Kasper; his grandson Joshua and granddaughter Avery, of Halfmoon; sister-in-law Dorothy Meinhold of Park City, Utah; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by parents, Friederich and Antoinette Glaser; his sisters, Marlene Moen and Evelyn Toffolo; and brothers-in-law Arne Moen, Alfio Toffolo and Arthur Meinhold.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent and compassionate care the staff of Ellis Hospital gave to Fred during his final days. We are thankful to have them in our community.
It was Fred's wish that there be no visitation or service at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Memory Gardens.
