Robert E North, age 90, son of Charles Wright North II and Lillian (Klinkenborg) North, born on June 25, 1934, in New Hampton, Iowa passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, from Alzheimer's, surrounded by loving family in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Bob was a beloved husband and father. He was a character who had character. Bob served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged upon completion of his service.
After earning his BA in Education from Iowa State Teacher's College and his MA in Science Education from Michigan State University, Mr. North taught math and science in Clinton Community School District in Iowa for three decades. His love for canoeing, camping and the great outdoors prompted him to be a Boy Scout leader and take his family on countless camping trips and evenings doing tick checks. He also loved hockey and old western movies. Having been a fisherman for his entire life, he was a charter member of The Striper Club in Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Curtis) North; eight children, James (Diane) North of Iowa, Steve (Laura) North of Maryland, Sheryl Hurley of Iowa, Julie North of Minnesota, Carolyn (Michael) Conn of Arkansas, Ken (Sarah) Oldaker of Kansas, Anna Oldaker of Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, a niece, nephews and other extended family members.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, please take a child fishing.
