Robert William "Bill" Nurnberger, 80, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024.
He was born on Sunday, June 13th, 1943 in Glen, NY. He was the son of Paul and Dorothy (Williams) Nurnberger and Alberta (Heiser) Nurnberger and Howard Lasher. Bill was a loving husband to Esther Nurnberger and a devoted father to sons, Bob and Karen Nurnberger, Scott and Mary Mooney, and Jeffrey Mooney.
Bill attended Fort Plain Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Marines, who was honorably discharged. He had a successful career as a Furniture Store Liquidator, working for various companies including Arnold Constanza in Connecticut. He also worked construction in Albany and for General Electric in Schenectady. He had a passion for watching old westerns, going to garage sales, and bartering for treasures.
Bill is survived by his wife, sons, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Marlene Preedom and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 3:00pm at Fort Plain/Canajoharie Elks Lodge, Old Station Road, Nelliston, NY 13410, with Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating and full military honors. A reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, at support.woundedwarriorproject.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, at wwww.stjude.org in Bill's memory.
Arrangements are entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
