Robert Ohmit, born on January 13, 1951, in Leslie County, Kentucky, passed away on August 13, 2025, in Oneida, Kentucky. A skilled mechanic and auto body repairman by trade, Robert was known for his impressive expertise, having previously worked at Fred Barnes Body Shop in Hyden, KY. His pride in his work was evident in each auto body restoration he performed.
A high school graduate, Robert’s dedication extended beyond his career, deeply rooting himself in his family, which he cherished above all. He was a very devoted family man, creating invaluable memories with his loved ones that will be forever treasured. His loyalty and affection for his family were the cornerstone of his life.
Robert was a proud member of the Panco Community Church in Oneida, KY, where he found comfort and community. Outside of his professional and spiritual life, he enjoyed an array of hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, a passionate fisherman, and had a knack for finding unique items at flea markets. He also delighted in the outdoors, particularly in digging ginseng, and shared an unwavering bond with his beloved dog, Toby.
Robert is survived by his sons, Carson Ohmit and Eric Ohmit, both of McKee, KY, and his step-daughter Bessie Gibson of London, KY. He is also remembered fondly by his four treasured grandchildren, Madison, Noah, Alexis, Alician and six cherished step-grandchildren, Cody Gibson & Ashley, Dustin Gibson, Sarah Gibson, Tabitha Hollingsworth & Gilbert, Kendra Gibson & Dawson Gibson, who brought brightness into his life.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife Patricia Ohmit, his father, Clarence Ohmit; his mother, Stella Woods; his sister, Loretta; and his step-son, Alfred Gibson. His legacy, rooted deeply in family devotion, will continue to resonate through the hearts of all who knew him. Robert Ohmit will be dearly missed, but his spirit and love for family will remain an enduring source of strength and inspiration.
The funeral for Mr. Robert Ohmit will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. - Tuesday - August 19, 2025 at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rice Rice officiating. Friends may call for visitation from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. The interment will follow the servic. at the Woods-Allen-Ohmit Cemetery located at Sizerock, KY. The following will serve as pallbearers Dustin Gibson, Cody Gibson and Roger Trent. Your may offer your condolences to the family at our website.
