Robert Arthur Onufer

Robert (Bob) Onufer died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 19, 2023. He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on October 15, 1929, to John and Frances (nee Husvar) Onufer. He was predeceased by his brother and sister, John and Eleanor.

Bob attended John Carroll University. After graduating in 1953 with a B.A. in Business Administration, Bob was immediately deployed to Korea. After the war, Bob returned to Cleveland where he met and married Jean Marie White in 1957 and they remained married for 66 years. They moved to Wadsworth, Ohio and then relocated to Glenview, Illinois in 1960. After forty-six years they retired to Virginia Beach, Virginia. He had many friends from his membership in the Virginia Beach Kiwanis Club Beachcombers and Church of the Holy Family.

Bob was a generous soul who valued hard work, family, and his wife's cooking. Bob is survived by his wife Jean Marie, and children John (Karen), Mary Frances, Brian (Betsy), Paul (Margit) and Drew (Virginia). He was proud "Papa Bob" to grandchildren Kathleen, Emily (Chas), Alex (Allison), Megan (Jon), Sarah, Grace, Bergen, Drew, Mary Clare, Jack and Helen and four great-grandchildren, Theo, Henry, Remley and Cy.

The family thanks Drs. Tom Alberico, Deepak Telreja and Robert Woodard for their care. A funeral mass will be held at 11am on October 31, 2023 at the Church of the Holy Family, 1279 W. Great Neck Rd.
