Robert Frank Orlowski, 76, of Columbus, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025, with his family by his side.
Born on July 23, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois, Robert was the son of Marilyn (née Rinehart) and the late Henry Orlowski. He married the love of his life, Carol Trainor, on June 3, 1972, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Utica, Michigan. Their story began when they met at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on August 9, 1971. Just two weeks later, Robert proposed, and eight months afterward, they were married.
Robert, affectionately known as "Bob," proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 26 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer. Concurrently, he built a long and dedicated career with Ford Motor Company, retiring after 35 years as a mold injection operator.
Bob had a deep love for the outdoors. He was passionate about working his land and repairing his own equipment. Bob also spent many joyful days camping, playing cards with family, hunting, fishing, and reading Tom Clancy novels. He served veterans with great pride, acting as the AMVETS State of Michigan 1st Vice Commander and Commander of AMVETS Post 52 in New Baltimore. As a Service Officer, he worked tirelessly to educate and advocate for fellow veterans and their benefits. Bob was also a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus with the All Saints Memphis Council 10501.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Carol; his beloved mother, Marilyn Orlowski; his sons Brett, Brandon (Elizabeth), and Bryan; and his cherished grandchildren Yvette, Presley, Charlotte, Jacqueline, and Joshua. He is also survived by his sister, Connie (James) Merritt.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Henry Orlowski, and his brother, James Orlowski.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories on Friday, June 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.
