Robert Eugene "Gene" Orr

Robert Eugene (Gene) Orr took his last breath in this temporary world and entered his permanent home on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Gene was born on April 3, 1931, to George and Ruby Orr. His father, George, died in the fields from heat stroke when Gene was just a baby and his mother, Ruby, passed away during childbirth when Gene was 16. Gene married Bertie Mae Allen on July 4, 1947, when they were both 16 years of age. They celebrated their 75th anniversary, July 4, 2022. Bertie passed away 5 days later on July 9, 2022. Gene and Bertie successfully ran Gene Orr Grocery at the corner of Salem Valley and HWY 41 for over 37 years. Gene had three siblings, Wallace Edgeman, Troy Edgeman and the late Vivian Clark Bonifacious. Gene and Bertie were blessed with four children, Michael (Janis) Orr, Terry Orr, Sherry (Van) Warren and Beverly (Roger) Nelson. They were further blessed with seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Amanda) Orr, Melissa (Chris) Hannah, Kori Orr, Rebecca (Jeff) Croft, Brandon (Sabina Sackmann) Nelson, Alison (Alex) Vicente, and Britney (Dallas) McGee. They had six great grandchildren, Madison Orr, Amelia Orr, Noah Orr, Conrad Orr, Beckett Hannah, and Berkley Croft. There will be visitation for family and friends on Sunday, December 4th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Wilson's Funeral Home chapel in Ringgold. THEY ARE TOGETHER AGAIN.
