Robert Penberthy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rausch & Steel Funeral Home on Mar. 31, 2025.
Robert L. "Yogi" Penberthy, Sr., age 89 of Prairie Farm, passed away on Friday, March 28 at his home.
Robert was born on March 25, 1936 to Wilson and Cecilia Penberthy in Fennimore. He grew up and graduated from Prairie Farm. He spent four years in the Army and National Guard.
In 1963, he met Gayle Scott and convinced her to move from New Jersey with 2 kids and become a farmer's wife. In 1964, they were married and a year later had Robert, Jr.
His true calling in life was his love for dairy farming and registered Holsteins. He continued to farm until the pleasures of farming took their toll. He divorced in 1994 and retired in 1997. In 1998, he got married to Dee Nelson and enjoyed the love of another whole family as well until her death in 2011. He rekindled the love for Gayle and they lived together until his death.
In his spare time, he loved playing and coaching softball. He spent many years coaching the Kenny Angels girls' softball team as well as umpiring most every weekend.
He was an avid Packer and Brewer fan as well as snowmobiling and riding in his side by side. He loved meeting up and talking to friends around a good cold Leines and talking about the past.
At home, you could always see him reading, either a book or a paper, which made him very knowledgeable on many subjects.
Robert is survived by his sons, Bob, Jr. (Mindi) of Barron and Richard (Jackie) of Prairie Farm; daughter, Lynn (Pat) Bartlett of Prairie Farm; his significant other, Gayle of Prairie Farm; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Dee and brother, James.
A visitation for Robert will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rausch and Steel Funeral Home in Barron. A service will be held following the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
