Robert Plough Obituary

Robert "Bob" D. Plough of Venice, Florida passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on January 28, 1940, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and moved to Venice in 1999.

Bob was a teacher, Elementary School Principal College Professor, and Associate Dean while living in Michigan. After moving to Florida, he continued to follow his passion and continued to teach at the college level. Bob taught his whole life and loved every minute of it. He was an educator from 1961-2014.

Bob loved playing cards of all kinds, from daily games with siblings online, to poker to being a Master Bridge Player. He loved to watch and play just about any sport. He was an avid golfer for most of his life.

Bob was a great family man. He loved traveling and camping all over the U.S. with his wife and children. He was a great example for his children as to what a great father and husband looks and acts like. He was an incredibly kind man who touched countless lives during and after his teaching career. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Bob is survived by his wife, Barbara of Venice; two sons, William (Lori) Plough of Michigan, Brian (Kerri) Plough of Michigan and a daughter, Becky Bonito of Michigan. He also leaves behind 5 sisters, 1 brother, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his son Robert (Lisa) of Michigan and one brother.

There will be no visitation, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements. To send a condolence or memory please visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com.

Bob was a wonderful father in law. He was great with my daughter's. Although I haven't seen him in almost 12 years since my husband Bob died. I was devastated and broken when he died. It took me years to find out what I was supposed to do. I often thought of the Plough family and miss seing everyone. I am not broken anymore, finally happy with myself and living alone. I will see both Bob's again someday. Love you all.

There was no one else like Bob.

As a principal he knew every child at Huron Elementary in Clinton Township, MI, each child's parents, what they did for a living and special challenges they faced.

Nothing was impossible with him at the helm. If you had a problem with a student or parent, Bob was available. When, as a teacher, you needed money for a project, Bob would find a way to help. His sense of humor and acute perceptions got all of us teachers through good and tough times. If anyone exemplified the phrase "I've got your back." - it was him.

Knowing him, meant you also knew his family, his loving wife Barb and his wonderful children . . . Dave and I are so sorry for your tremendous loss.

In 2010 many teachers were retiring who had been a part of Huron's original school staff, Bob flew in from Florida to see everyone and to wish the retirees well. That's what he was like.

As you remember Bob, you think of that smile, his kindness, his understanding and lots and lots of laughs. You will be missed Bob, but you shall live on in everyone's memories.

Bob was my Principal at Huron Elementary (Clinton Township, MI) in the 1980s. I have wonderful memories of Huron and Bob's leadership. He contributed much to his school because he cared deeply for everyone: students, staff, and the entire community.
