Robert Glenn Pridgen, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Guilford County, North Carolina. Born on December 19, 1942, in Guilford County, he was 83 years old at the time of his passing.
Robert dedicated four years of his life to service in the United States Air Force from July 19, 1961, to April 3, 1964. Following his service, he pursued his passion for music and enjoyed an illustrious career as a full-time musician for over 40 years. As a drummer, he traveled the world, performed in the movie "Carny," and was part of the tour for "Jesus Christ Superstar.", Jr Walker & The All Stars, Randall Bramblett & Many More. His love for music extended beyond performance; he was a prolific songwriter and an avid collector of antique music gear.
Robert's curiosity and ingenuity were evident from a young age, as he often took apart and reassembled radios when his parents were away. His knack for fixing anything, particularly stereo equipment, was well-known among friends and family. Robert had an uncanny ability to recognize the value in vintage items, making him a savvy collector long before the advent of online marketplaces like eBay.
In his personal life, Robert enjoyed traveling to the beach and visiting flea markets. His fun and intelligent nature made him a delightful presence, and he was known for being animated in conversations with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hosea Pridgen and Mary Lou Green, as well as his sister, Patricia Scott. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Cynthia Pridgen; his children, Alicia Pridgen Hausler, Wynton Kelly Pridgen, Glen Robert Pridgen, and Michelle Pridgen Barry; and his cherished grandchildren, Erika, Sommer, Jordan, Taylor, Matthew, Mary Margaret, and Justin, and nieces Lynette Corbett, Carolyn Gunter, and Kathy Held.
A private family service will be held at a later date to honor Robert's memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Academy of Greensboro, reflecting his lifelong passion for music.
Robert Glenn Pridgen will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of music, craftsmanship, and love for life will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
